So, this is where I talk about my experiences putting this whole thing together.
I chose this topic because 1) it's near and dear to my heart. Comics have been with me the majority of my life, and I have come to really appreciate the uniqueness of the medium and its ability to tell a story in ways that no other medium can.
Finding relatable media was genuinely easy, but that's more due to the fact that comics and graphic novels are enjoying a renaissance in terms of accessibility and acceptance. With Marvel and DC both chasing movie dollars, cosplay (costume play) becoming an accepted form of expression, and the realization that comics are actually beneficial to the school curriculum, people the world over are jumping on the comics bandwagon and discovering what these fictional characters can show, and teach, and impart on us. Now, granted, it's still kind of difficult to find completely relatable content for all audiences - some folx like to keep it "surface level", while others want to dive deep into not only the backstories, but also the creator's lives.
On the whole, I feel this was a beneficial project, as it helped me to reinforce my love of the medium, as well as discover (or rediscover) some sites and outlets that I can use for my personal research and information gathering.
